Snaps a branch off the river pine
Mud caking on his neck
He turns half way to find my eyes

I know better than to want this
The treasures and the charms
I know better than to haunt this
I can hear the alarms

And the sages say let your deepest love go unknown

The river rises to my chest
a cold, crackling
Do we wait for love to eat out of our hands
or exhaust ourselves with the tackling?
